Week 5 Injury Report: Houston Texans Vs. Dallas Cowboys
It’s getting real. The Houston Texans are now proud holders of a 3-1 record with one quarter of the season complete.
The match up between the Texans and the Buffalo Bills is now in their rear-view mirror as they head up north on Interstate 45 to focus on their next opponent — the Dallas Cowboys.
It’s an intense rivalry that has been going on for decades — dubbed the Governor’s Cup — since the days of the Oilers before forced decisions were made to eventually morph into what we see today in the Texans.
So the race to claim the cup is on and the Texans are looking to becoming the newest recipient.
It will be match up for the ages as both teams are on the cusp of making improvements from their previous seasons!
For the Houston Texans, here are the players that are listed on the injury report:
- CB A.J. Bouye, Groin
- T Duane Brown, Knee
- LB Jadeveon Clowney, Knee
- LB Brian Cushing, Knee
- LB Akeem Dent, Shoulder
- RB Arian Foster, Hamstring
- DE Tim Jamison, Groin
- WR Andre Johnson, Ankle
- WR Damaris Johnson, Foot
- G Ben Jones, Knee
- CB Johnathan Joseph, Knee
- P Shane Lechler, Left Hip
- CB Darryl Morris, Ankle
- C Chris Myers, Ankle
- S Eddie Pleasant, Ankle
- S D.J. Swearinger, Elbow
- DE J.J. Watt, Thigh
Bouye, Clowney, Morris and Pleasant have been ruled out for Sunday.
The Houston Chronicle’s John McClain confirms:
Jamison and Andre Johnson have been ruled as questionable.
McClain also reports in regard to Foster’s and Johnson’s status:
Andre Johnson has been dealing with some pain in his right ankle for the past few weeks but has pressed on to be present in games. I expect nothing less for this week. He had to leave late in last week’s game because of the injury. He has been limited in practice all week.
Brown, Cushing, Dent, Foster, Damaris Johnson, Jones, Joseph, Lechler, Myers, Swearinger and Watt are probable to play.
And here’s the injury report for the Dallas Cowboys:
- WR Dez Bryant, Shoulder
- LB Bruce Carter, Thigh
- LB Rolando McClain, Groin
- DT Henry Melton, Hamstring
- QB Tony Romo, Back
- DE Anthony Spencer, Knee
Carter is the only player out for the Cowboys and Melton is questionable.
Rowan Kavner of DallasCowboys.com confirms that Carter will likely be out a few weeks nursing his injury:
Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News reports on Melton’s status:
Bryant, McClain, Romo and Spencer are all probable to play even though some were limited in practice.
And there you have it — the Texans are dealing with their fair share of maladies while the Cowboys are coming to Sunday’s match up relatively healthy with just a few names listed.
The big game’s kickoff is set for noon this Sunday. The game will be televised on CBS and broadcast on 610 SportsRadio AM/100.3 (KILT).
Go Texans!
