Houston Texans Fantasy Football Preview: Week 5

facebooktwitterreddit

The Houston Texans won last week’s game 23-17. Good fantasy games for DeAndre Hopkins, the Texans defense, and Randy Bullock.

With the Texans traveling to Dallas to face the Cowboys, there are sure to be some high fantasy scorers.

*Note: Thoughts are based on a 12-team, PPR league

Quarterbacks

Ryan Fitzpatrick – Fantasy owners looking for bye week help usually look at the QB facing the Cowboys. Last week Drew Brees couldn’t get anything going against the Cowboys, but that’s probably more of a fluke than what will be a recurring theme this season. Fitzpatrick isn’t a good QB play, but you probably could find one or two worse plays at QB than Fitzpatrick.

Tony Romo – I’ve always been a big fan of Romo. He’s a good quarterback and has the potential to be the best fantasy quarterback on a weekly basis. Though the Texans have a solid secondary, I think Romo is still good for 2 TD’s against the Texans.

Prediction:
RF – 275 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT
TR – 250 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT

Running Backs

Arian Foster – In a non-ppr league, Foster was a total bust week 4. For ppr’ers he salvaged his game with 7 catches. It’s tough to start a RB with hamstring issues, but it’s also tough to bench a guy like Foster. Start if he’s playing.

DeMarco Murray – The NFC Offensive Player of the Month for September should be in line for a good game against a Texans defense allowing 5 yards per carry. Murray is averaging over 133 rushing yards per game and there is no reason to think he won’t top that on Sunday.

Prediction:
AF – 13 car, 50 yards, 1 TD
DM – 28 car, 150 yards, 1 TD

Wide Receivers

Andre Johnson – Johnson may not be the receiver he was a few years ago, or even last year, but he still has a lot in the tank. He’s a WR2 at this point, and should have a pretty good game against the Cowboys.

DeAndre Hopkins – Are we seeing the passing of the torch? It may be happening all this season as Hopkins seems to be the TD target for Fitzpatrick. He already has 3 TDs on the season and could be in line for another against the ‘Boys.

Dez Bryant – There are only a few DBs in the league that can guard Bryant and the Texans don’t have one of them. They’ll likely have 2 guys watching him, but will it be enough?

Terrance Williams – Hit-or-miss fantasy WR, don’t think he’s a good play this week. Flex option at best.

Prediction:
AJ – 7 catches, 85 yards
DH – 6 catches, 90 yards, 1 TD

DB – 8 catches, 90 yards, 1 TD
TW – 4 catches, 50 yards

Tight End

Garrett Graham/C.J. Fiedorowicz – Both TE’s have played together in 2 games this season, but we haven’t seen much from either of them. You could do better than starting either of them.

Jason Witten – Witten has been held scoreless this season but I think that changes this week. He’ll be Romo’s safety blanket and should have a good game against the Texans safeties.

Prediction:

GG – 3 catches, 35 yards
CJF – 2 catches, 15 yards
JW – 7 catches, 70 yards, 1 TD

More from Houston Texans

Kickers

Randy Bullock – Bullock had a great game last week against the Bills and should be a good play against the Cowboys in an indoor stadium. Top 12 K.

Dan Bailey – One of the better kickers in the game. As “must start” of a kicker as it gets.

Defense/Special Teams

Houston – Texans are 8th in the league in points allowed, but they’ve had a pretty favorable schedule. The Cowboys score points and they’re at home. Their should be better plays out there, but it’s hard to bench a defense with J.J. Watt on its side.

Dallas – Playing Fitzpatrick should definitely get you an interception or two. Plus they’re at home. Still wouldn’t start them in 12-team league.

Good luck with your fantasy teams this week!
