Houston Texans Fantasy Preview: Week 2

After a nice win in week one, 17-6, the Houston Texans will take on the Oakland Raiders in Oakland on Sunday. The Texans put up some pretty good numbers fantasy wise in week one. Foster had over 100 yards, Andre Johnson had over 90 yards, Hopkins eclipsed 80 yards with a TD and the defense put up huge numbers.

This week there is a chance for more big numbers from the Texans stars. Here is your week 2 fantasy preview:

Quarterback

Ryan Fitzpatrick – In week one Fitzpatrick put up 200+ yards with a big TD on only 22 attempts. He didn’t really throw down field and the passing game plan seemed to be pretty basic. The Raiders gave up 221 yards passing and 1 TD to second year QB Geno Smith in week 1. Last season the Raiders gave up the third most fantasy points to QBs on the season. If you are in need of a starter, Fitzpatrick may not be a bad option in 2-QB leagues this week.

Prediction: 220 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT

Running Backs

Arian Foster – The question going into week one was Foster’s health status but he showed he was healthy and ready to run the rock. He compiled 120 total yards but did fumble once. Foster looked good though hitting holes and could be in for a huge week. Oakland gave up 212 yards rushing good for 6.0 ypc to the Jets in week 1. Last season the Raiders gave up the 5th most fantasy points to running backs. Foster is a must start this week in all leagues. – Prediction: 22 car, 120 yards, 1 TD; 4 rec, 30 yards

Alfred Blue & Jonathan Grimes – Both of these guys received one carry each and time on special teams. At this time it is hard to tell how much they will play behind Foster. Keeps these guys on the bench for now.

Wide Recievers

Andre Johnson – Johnson got off to a nice start with a 6 catch, 93 yard performance in week 1. Johnson could have a huge game facing a suspect Oakland defense. Johnson put up a 10 catch 116 yard performance last season against Oakland. As always, Andre is a must start! – Prediction: 6 catches, 80 yards, 1 TD

More from Houston Texans

DeAndre Hopkins – DeAndre got off to a great start with a 76 yard TD catch in the 2nd quarter. He finished with 4 catches for 89 yards and the TD. Hopkins only had one reception against them last season but I think he is in for a good game this week. If you are low on WRs Hopkins could be a good play this week. – Prediction: 5 catches, 60 yards, 1 TD

Damaris Johnson – Johnson was targeted three times in the opener but only had one catch. He does add some value with the punt and kick returns. Minimal impact at this time on offense until we see further.

Tight End

Garrett Graham – Graham didn’t play in week one due to an injury but it looks like he may be on his way back in the lineup for this coming Sunday. Monitor the situation as he could be ruled out again. – Prediction: 4 catches, 40 yards

C.J. Fiedorowicz – He got the start last week but was only targeted once and it was an incomplete pass. Keep him out of the lineup regardless of Graham’s injury until we can see some more of him in the offensive game plan.

Kicker

Randy Bullock – Bullock was 2/2 in extra points and made his only field goal attempt from 42 yards. Texans should put up some points this week so I would expect him to get a few PATs and maybe a field goal or two.

Defense/Special Teams

Would have been hard to predict a better day for the Texans D/ST. Texans finished with 3 sacks, a blocked punt, which was recovered for a TD, and only gave up one touchdown to the Redskins. They also hit the QB 14 times, forced two fumbles and both were recovered. Facing Oakland with a rookie QB could mean big things for the Texans defense.

Texans put together a nice week one win with good fantasy performances from many positions. Heck, if you started a fantasy team full of ONLY Texans you could have won in week one!

Week two should bring better numbers to all Texans. They’re not the 2012 fantasy Texans but you could do much worse.
