With Arian Foster sidelined for the time being the Texans needed depth at the RB position. He has a long hill to climb, but could fight for the 3rd RB gig with an impressive showing during camp.
Farrell, 24, went undrafted in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Penn State. He was with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Denver Broncos a bit before coming to Houston. He played with former PSU head coach, now Texans head coach, Bill O’Brien, and will have a chance to make the roster as a backup offensive lineman.
The Texans waived LB Ricky Sapp. He played in five games for the Texans last season, mostly on special teams.
