2. Kicker Battle
With a career field goal percentage of 74.3%, Randy Bullock is the current breadwinner for the kicker position. He made all 26 extra point attempts in 2013, but was just 13-of-22 from field goal attempts of 40 yards or more.
Last year’s training camp left Bullock feeling unchallenged. This year rookie free agent, Chris Boswell from Rice University, will try to unseat the third-year kicker. Bosworth rose to fame in 2013 with his unorthodox onside kick that the Owls recovered late in a game against Houston.
Boswell kicked at the Senior Bowl and made 65 of 88 field goal attempts in his career. He also connected 14 field goal attempts from 50-plus-yards and three from 55 yards or more.
Bob Ligashesky, the special teams coordinator, will be able to get a better look at both Bullock and Boswell during training camp and preseason games.
