Houston Astros Minor League Week In Review: May 12-18

Another week of minor league baseball is in the books. It was an odd week as the Lancaster JetHawks threw a combined no-hitter and then the Quad Cities RoverBandits followed it up by getting no-hit themselves. Three of the four minor league teams won more than they lost with only the RiverBandits having a losing record this week. Check out how our top prospects fared, below!

AAA: Oklahoma CityRedhawks (24-20) went 4-2 this week.

Though OKC won four games this week, most of it was on good pitching. Santana really got it going this week with his 3 HRs and now has 6 HR, 28 RBI and a .288 BA in 44 games. Buchanan has a 3.19 ERA with only 6 BB in 42.1 IP. Since April 11th, Foltynewicz has only given up 9 ER in 35 IP (2.31 ERA) and 37 SO.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (22-21) went 4-3 this week.

Aplin has been on a roll lately. He has 2 HR, 28 RBI and 34 BB/23 SO in 42 games. Sclafani is on a 8-game hitting streak and has 16 hits in those games. Though Tucker didn’t get many hits this week, he did hit 3 HR and drove in 7 giving him 9 HR and 28 RBI on the season. DeShields showed this week why he is special. He hit .100 with only 3 hits but yet he still managed to steal 4 bases and score 6 runs. Shirley keeps on rolling with 41.2 IP and a 12 BB/46 SO ratio. Smith has a 6.75 ERA so far in AA but has 3 BB/16 SO in 14.2 IP.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (26-18) went 4-2 this week.

Kemp had a slow week to his standards only hitting .304. Correa continues to drive in guys, 33 RBI in 36 games. Hernandez has 11 3B, 6 2B, 6 HR and 36 RBI in 41 games this season. The pitching was great this week. Hader threw 6 hitless innings in the combined no-hitter. He now has 54 SO in 42.2 IP with a 2.53 ERA. McCullers has 46 SO in 39.1 IP this season. Emanuel has put together two good starts after struggling in his A+ debut.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (20-22) went 3-4 this week.

Holberton hit for the cycle on May 18th and is hitting .350 on the season. Gregor is still searching for his first HR but his batting average is up to .306 and he does have 11 2B. Lee had a fantastic outing this week. Houser, a 2011 2nd-round pick, has had back to back good starts a now has a 3.94 ERA.
