John McClain writes about the Houston Texans in the Houston Chronicle. According to his Twitter profile, McClain has been covering the NFL for the Houston Chronicle for 35 years.
Early on in the draft process, McClain was convinced the Texans were taking a quarterback. Whether it was Blake Bortles, Teddy Bridgewater, Johnny Manziel, or even Derek Carr, McClain was sure the Texans would draft a quarterback. How sure? Sure enough that he told his Twitter followers that if they didn’t take a quarterback he would eat the front page of the Houston Chronicle.
As the draft came closer, McClain realized he may be in trouble. On draft day, eating the Chronicle seemed all but likely for McClain.
I've been reminded that I said months ago I'd eat the front of the Chron sports page if Texans don't take QB in first round. I guess I will.

How would he eat it?
You've obviously eaten chicken strips. Tomorrow at Reliant Stadium, I'll be eating Chronicle strips since Texans won't be taking QB N 1st rd

In 35 drafts I've eaten a lot of crow. This will be first time I've eaten a newspaper. Just the front page, actually. I need a nice Chianti.

If the Texans don't trade and don't take Clowney, I won't have to eat front page cause I'm jumping off Empire State Building.

Jumping off the Empire State Building probably would not have worked out to well for McClain, so it’s a good thing that Texans GM Rick Smith and head coach Bill O’Brien selected Jadeveon Clowney.
Here’s the video you have all been waiting for of John McClain eating the front page of the Houston Chronicle. (Video from the Houston Chronicle)
