It’s finally here! The day we’ve been waiting for since Matt Schaub blew the game against the Seattle Seahawks. Ok, maybe not since then, but it was all downhill from there.

What’s smoke and what isn’t? If only I knew, then maybe I’d be sitting on the ESPN set later tonight. I don’t think the Houston Texans are lying about wanting to deal the first pick. Clowney could be a once-in-a-generation pass rusher, but there are some questions (ethic, scheme fit) regarding him.

The Texans have yet to make their choice yet, at least officially. The Texans came to terms with Mario Williams a bit after the midnight before draft the back in 2006. It’s certainly possible and almost likely you won’t know the Texans pick until they’re on the clock.

The Texans want to trade, but will they find a partner? I think they will. I’d guess the Atlanta Falcons will give in, but I don’t think the Texans get their

-like haul they were asking teams for. It’s not what you ask, but what you get that really matters.

My prediction is that the Texans trade the first overall pick to Atlanta, and in return receive #6, #37, #103, and a future 1st and 4th.

At #6, I expect the Texans to take a quarterback, and the choice will likely be between Johnny Manziel and Blake Bortles. There has been some talk that Manziel could go to the Rams (#2), Jaguars (#3), or Cleveland (#4). If he falls to the Texans I think they take him, otherwise it’s probably Bortles. If both are there, I think O’Brien prefers Bortles and that’s where they’ll go.

all but certain to still be available. Heck, maybe even Clowney ends up falling back in their lap.

I’d be ecstatic if the Texans stayed at #1, drafted Clowney, and landed one of Bortles, Manziel, Bridgewater, or Carr. In fact, that scenario isn’t too crazy, and many mock drafts don’t have one or two of those quarterbacks in the first round.

If the Texans stay at #1, expect the pick to be Clowney, but I do think they end up selecting from the #6 spot later tonight and welcome a new quarterback to town.
