 5. Jonathan Singleton, 1B

Jonathan Singleton was drafted in the 8th round out of high school by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2009.  Singleton was traded to the Astros as part of the Hunter Pence deal in 2011. Singleton is viewed by many as the best first base prospect in all of baseball. Singleton has huge power but is limited to 1B. He isnt a great defender there but adequate enough. Singleton has the ability to draw walks but also strikes out a little too much. Singleton is trying to work his way back from his 50 game suspension at the beginning of 2013.  Due to this suspension, I will show his 2012 stats.

2012 Stats, Class AA: 131 G, .284 BA/.396 OBP/.497 SLG, 94 R, 27 2B, 4 3B, 21 HR, 79 RBI, 7 SB, 88 BB/131 SO

Best Case Scenario Player Comparison: Ryan Howard, 1B (Phillies)

Jonathan Singleton has been compared to Ryan Howard ever since he was drafted by the Phillies.  Fortunately this is a very good comparison. Both are big string first basemen, who hit left handed and have lots of power. Both strikeout quite a bit but can also draw a decent amount of walks too. I am sure most would be happy if Singleton turned out to average 43 HR, 132 RBI per 162 games with a career WAR over 18, like Howard.
