Houston Astros Minor League Week In Review: April 21-27

The Houston Astros actually went 4-3 this week, so that is definitely a good sign. The minor league teams unfortunately did not do as well this week only going a combined 12-14. As always, there were some good hitting and pitching performances for this week. Oh and Andrew Aplin has 21 BB to only 10 SO.

AAA: Oklahoma City Redhawks (13-11) went 2-4 this week.

OKC went 1-1 against Memphis and lost 3 out of 4 against Nashville.

Ronald Torreyes, acquired from the Cubs last season, is now hitting .314 with 6 2B, 3B, HR , 14 RBI, with a 4 BB/4 SO ratio this season. Domingo Santana got off to a slow start in AAA but he is now hitting .302 on the season and .366 in his last 10 games. Not featured in the group, but Singleton hit another HR this week.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (13-10) went 4-3 this week.

The Hooks won 3 of 4 from Midland then lost the weekend series, 1-2, against Frisco.

Andrew Aplin now has 21 BB/10 SO on the season good for a 19.8% BB rate and a 10.4 % So rate. Between limited time last season at CC and this season Cruz has gone 39.2 IP, 23 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 10 BB, 37 SO. Thomas Shirley now has gone 23.1 IP, 16 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, 28 SO. Check out this article:

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (14-10) went 3-4 this week.

The Jethawks split a four game series with Inland Empire and lost 2 out of 3 against Rancho Cucamonga.

Carlos Correa have missed the last 3 games due to a sore shoulder but Perdomo stepped in played great. The pitching has continued to do well though. Josh Hader now has 35 SO in 23.2 IP. Kyle Smith has a 2.63 ERA in 24 IP this season.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (10-12) went 3-3 this week.

QC won 2 out of 3 against Clinton and then lost 2 out of 3 against Peoria. QC got the bats going though scoring 39 runs in the 6 games.

Jobduan Morales did all his damage this week in only 3 games. Thomas Lindauer had a great first week with QC.  Two pitchers from the 2013 draft, Thurman/Emanuel, are both pitching well recently.
