Houston Astros Top 5 Offseason Moves

4. Community Leaders Boards
You may have noted that I said offseason moves. Good news if you haven’t heard already, these guys will no longer block the view of the Houston Skyline (shown above). Established in 2012, the Community Leaders billboards will provide $18 million to Houston’s youth baseball and softball programs by 2017.
$18 million is a lot of money. If the cost of giving that much back to our city is not being able to see the skyline or Friday night fireworks as well, then it is a fantastic program, but Reid Ryan is a creative thinker. There are a lot of places that those boards could go, and it seems like the team and the Community Leaders came to an agreement. This may seem like a minor win for the fans, but it is indicative of the way that our new front office goes about solving problems. Houstonians should be proud of the way that our hometown team handled this and excited for the team to apply that outside-the-box thinking to a real problem (cough*cough*CSN Houston*cough).
