2. Delino DeShields

I just want to clear something up. I know I said we should be thanking Ed Wade, but I’m over it. I’d rather be singing the praises of Delino DeShields.

This guy is poised to be a star. What he lacks in stature (he’s only 1.062 Altuves tall), he makes up for… well… everywhere else.

Let’s talk 2012.

DeShields decided to make a statement that year, apparently. His line? .287/.389/.428. Solid overall numbers. I like those numbers.

He also hit for 24 doubles, 12 HR, and 61 RBI. I like those numbers as well. That’s a solid contribution.

Oh. I forgot that he stole 101 bases over the course of the season at A- and A+ respectively. Yeah. 101.

In 2013, his numbers stayed virtually the same in every category with the exception of his stolen bases falling to 51 (I’ll take it!), and his average rising to .317 (Yes please!).

DeShields has a chance to fast track himself to the Majors. We’ll see how the 2014 season progresses. There’s no immediate need for him, as Dexter Fowler was acquired to hold down the fort until our next player arrives at the show.

Be on the lookout though. If you’re not paying attention, you might miss him on his way to the MLB. If you do, it’s not a problem. You’ll get your chance. When he makes it, he should be here for the long run.
