Look at that smile, and deep into those intimidating Matt Schaub eyes. Get a good look, because in a few short hours, that face will no longer be haunting Houston, TX. The Houston Texans should be releasing Matt Schaub sometime this afternoon. I’m guessing around, 4:01 PM EST.

Bill O’Brien and Rick Smith have been on the hunt for a new quarterback in the past two weeks. We’ve heard a plethora of different rumors surrounding free agent quarterbacks and the Texans.

O’Brien can slap on his fake smile and say all the great things he wants about Matt Schaub, in front of a camera. The truth is, O’Brien wants nothing to do with Schaub or his noodle arm. It’s no secret. I know it, you know it, and Kyle Shanahan knows it. Kyle and Matt are boys. So when this report came from Cleveland.com, all I could do is chuckle. According to Mary Kay Cabot:

"It’s a “serious possibility” that the Browns will sign Texans veteran quarterback Matt Schaub to compete with Brian Hoyer, a league source told cleveland.com.The Texans might release Schaub, 32, because he’s due to make $10 million in 2014. CBS Sports’ Jason LaCanfora and nfl.com’s Ian Rapoport have both reported the Browns’ possible interest in the veteran passer. The Raiders and Jets are also reportedly interested. In 2009, Schaub led the NFL in passing yards (4,770) and completions (396) that year, earning a 98.6 rating. He also earned Pro Bowl MVP honors."

Mary Kay, how dare you try to paint a positive light on Schaub. Don’t you know I’m still scorned by his horrific play last season? What kind of false hope are you giving these poor Cleveland Browns fans?

In Mary Kay’s report she also mentioned this about Schaub:

"But one thing is certain: Shanahan knows how to bring out the best in Schaub. In his three seasons under Shanahan, his ratings were 87.2, 92.7 and 98.6."

Riveting tale…

Your honor, I would like to present to the court, Exhibit A:

Kyle Shanahan was the Houston Texans quarterback coach in 2007. Then Kubiak gave him the reigns, and made Kyle the Texans Offensive Coordinator, in 2008 and 2009. Kyle did a respectable job when it came to getting yards. He did a mediocre job when it came to actually scoring points.

Matt Schaub isn’t the strapping young 26 year old lad, with two ears, anymore. He’s much older and his confidence is more than likely shot. This would be such a Cleveland Browns move. They’re like a Third World Country when it comes to football. They get things a little bit later than most teams, and when it does arrive it barely works anymore.

That’s cute, John.

Good luck, Cleveland.
