Ryan Mallett – New England Patriots
If the Texans draft defense first, or trade down to accumulate picks, Mallett is being rumored to be a guy the Texans would covet.
The New England connection, along with being Tom Brady‘s backup, make Mallett an intriguing possibility for Houston. O’Brien coached him during his final season as the offensive coordinator for the Patriots.
It would likely take at least the Texans 3rd round pick (65th overall) to pry him away from the Pats (probably even more), which makes this deal unlikely for a guy with 17 passing yards in three seasons. Oh, and the 1-year left on his rookie deal doesn’t make him too enticing either.
