1. Who starts at center back?
The heart of the Dynamo defense was carved up early and often by opponents during 2013. The departure of Bobby Boswell for DC United creates a hole in the center, but also an opportunity to shore things up as Boswell was often the source of defensive miscues. Jermaine Taylor, despite a rocky 2013 season following an outstanding 2012 season, is penciled in at one spot. The Dynamo must identify a solid starter to partner with Taylor out of the remaining four options or seek to add another body through the transfer market.
Eric Brunner filled in for an injured Taylor during the playoffs and was serviceable, but far from convincing. David Horst was acquired from Portland Timbers during the off-season and could grab the starting spot if he is fully recovered from an injury riddled 2013 season. Arena and Cochran will get a look but likely are role players or candidates to be sent out on loan to Dynamo affiliate, Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
