Who do we have?
Dwight Howard, Omer Asik, Greg Smith
How are they doing?
Well Dwight is the only member of the Rockets this season to play all 41 games, so you can take your injury concerns and shove it where the sun don’t shine.
Other than that, Dwight has been awesome. I feel that he has adapted into this team a lot better than Harden has. Dwight knows that all we need him to do is take a certain amount of shots per game, he’s a cog in the machine, not the driver. Now if only Harden would learn that, then the Rockets would be in great shape.
But seriously, I’m developing a serious man crush on Dwight. He’s playing happy Howard basketball again (even though he is playing his lowest MPG since his rookie season) and the Rockets are prospering from that. Yeah, he couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat at the free throw line, but if we improve our defense during late game situations I feel that Hack-a-Howard will help us in most games.
I could honestly care less about Omer Asik, the only thing I want from him is to be off our roster come the trade deadline. He has been sitting on his butt, moping around all year. If Gollum from Lord of the Rings was here, this is what I would want him to say to Omer:
I know Asik has been “injured” all year, but he could at least try to show some team spirit.
Greg Smith has been doing that all year. He’s been battling injuries throughout the first half of this season and whenever he can play, he does, even though it’s obvious he’s not at 100%. That’s what I want on my team. I want team first, me second guys that will do whatever it takes to help the team get a W.
Overall Grade: A-
Reason: Dwight has been holding down this spot by himself all season. Terrence Jones will take over when Dwight needs a break or is in foul trouble, but the guy has been phenomenal.
