3. Wasted Houston Rockets Talent
I bet no one saw this coming. The Houston Rockets on this list seems like a stretch.
The team as a whole has had a very positive year. They made the playoffs at the end of the season 2012-2013 season. Not only did they make the playoffs, they struck fear in the hearts of Oklahoma City Thunder fans.
But there are two players in 2013 that really slap this organization in the face.
Royce White and Omer Asik.
I have a lot of respect for Darryl Morey. He’ll reach here and there on some of his GM moves, but their educated moves. For the life of me, I don’t know why other GM’s pick up the phone when he calls. I’m starting to think that he has private investigators following around every GM in the NBA. Then he builds up enough blackmail material, and strikes when they’ve done something super shady.
Morey reached on Royce White. White could ball, and probably would have been a top 5 pick if he wasn’t afraid to fly on a plane.
The Rockets really tried to make this Royce White thing work. But Royce White didn’t want it to work.
He was trying to see how far he could push this team, to get what he wants.
Royce reminds me of the girl that’s a little twisted, does some questionable things from time to time, but she’s sexy as hell. So you take a chance, and start dating her. Then one day, there’s a red flag, then another, another, and another. Before you know it, this chick goes full Amanda Bynes crazy. You’re not even sure what’s going on in her head. You just know it’s madness.
Royce tried to one-up someone that was smarter than him. He got to travel from game to game in a tour bus like a rock star. He had women on the bus constantly. Just knocking up women left and right. When he addressed the media he would start rambling about flying and peanut butter.
Then there is Omer Asik. I like Asik, but complaining about minutes, and how you’re not playing on the same team as Dwight Howard, that’s just stupid to me.
I don’t know much about Turkey and their basketball customs. But if playing alongside one of the best players in the league, and still making millions of dollars… if this is a hardship in Turkey, then I want your problems.
It baffles me to no end.
Two guys that have talent that could help push this team over the top, just refusing to do what it takes. Selfish people.
If they cared about the team and their own success they would buck up and stop pouting. To me that’s about as low as you can go as person.
When you wear Rockets Red, and represent this city, show some class.
