2. Houston Rockets Sign Dwight Howard (July 5th)
This is my favorite tweet of 2013.
Boy was I soooooooo pumped when I saw it! Many people were speculating Howard would sign in Houston but others had the audacity to claim teams like the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, or even the Los Angeles Lakers were frontrunners. Chris Palmer was one such writer, reporter, or whatever he actually does. Seriously dude, that was horrendous tweeting/reporting those weeks leading up to Howard signing with the Rockets. Palmer, who at one time was with ESPN, constantly tweeted that Howard would resign with the Lakers claiming he had sources telling him so.
And what about you Mr. Chris “Sources” Broussard?!? Telling the world that your so called “sources” say that Howard is 50-50 on actually signing with the Rockets just a few hours after Sam Amick broke the story. Here’s the worst tweet of 2013.
I think we’re all dumbfounded by the fact Broussard still has a job. This is not the first time he’s been wrong and it won’t be the last. Howard claims he was never 50-50, and Broussard and his “sources” used Howard’s past to paint an ugly image to the situation.
What has Howard done since joining the Rockets? 17.9 ppg and 13.3 rpg, numbers that are very similar to his career numbers. The guy that Howard replaced (Omer Asik)? Well, that’s a whole different story.
