The Houston Astros continue to surge through the majors as if there’s nothing that can stop their incredible momentum.

The Houston Astros continue to surge through the majors as if there’s nothing that can stop their incredible momentum.

The Houston Astros are currently 29-13 which is good for the best record in the majors and 6.5 games ahead of the runner-up in the AL West, that pesky team from up north that thinks they’re all that.

A lot of the Astros success rests on their hitting — not only in a timely fashion — but with power when each of our guys come up to the plate.

The pitching has been solid overall but I still have my concerns with Charlie Morton and Mike Fiers but they’re good enough to be in the rotation as the run support is quite solid at the moment.

One of the main reasons as to why the pitching staff has the lowest ERA (3.45) in the AL as well as 2nd in the majors is because of our ACE, Dallas Keuchel.

But according to a report from Brian McTaggart of MLB.com, it’s apparent that Keuchel has injured himself.

McTaggart reports:

This is somewhat surprising news considering that he has been on a tear as of late.

McTaggart also mentions that Keuchel will miss one start as a result but let’s hope that it’s not more.

In a corresponding move, the Astros have called up lefty Ashur Tolliver — whom they signed in the offseason — from Triple-A Fresno to fill his spot.

Although I wish the circumstances were different, I’ve been wanting to see this guy called up.

He’s been pitching well for the Grizzlies, possessing a 2.70 ERA, a 2-0 record, 12 strikeouts and a 1.28 WHIP through 13.1 innings pitched in 10 games.

While Keuchel is out, he’ll bolster our bullpen as we’re going to need an extra arm to go the distance if our other four starters get into trouble.

He truly was the right guy to bring up and hopefully A.J. Hinch will use him here and there.

As for Keuchel, he has been pitching some strong stuff and is definitely on track to have a re-coronation of the AL Cy Young Award.

Next: Time to rethink Carlos Beltran at DH?

Keuchel has posted a 7-0 record, 1.84 ERA, 54 strikeouts and a 0.86 WHIP through 63.2 IP and nine starts.

That’s an EVEN BETTER track than 2015 ya’ll!

Hopefully this is a minor injury but we’ll have to see.

Will this implore the Astros to make a move before the trade deadline for another starter?

Time will definitely tell.

Go Astros.
