It happened — 15 minutes prior to the start of the NFL free agency period, the Houston Texans made a massive trade that sent Brock Osweiler and his massive contract to the Cleveland Browns.

It stunned the league when the report broke. Not only is GM RIck Smith smiling, so are the fans. Let’s take a look at the trade.

Trade Breakdown

Houston Texans received:

Browns 4th Round Pick (142nd overall) in 2017

Received $10 million in cap relief

Cleveland Browns received:

Brock Osweiler

Texans 6th Round pick (188th overall) in 2017

Texans 2nd Round pick in 2018

Now that Osweiler has been traded, the team has more cap space and flexibility. Reported cap space is about $30 million. They can now comfortably go after and try to sign Tony Romo who many link to the Texans and Broncos.

The Texans are a quarterback away from being a serious contender in the AFC if they can just get their hands on a legit quarterback.

The Texans are the best fit for Romo personally. Texans have a number one defense and will also be getting J.J. Watt back.

They have a great number one wide receiver in DeAndre Hopkins and a steady running back in Lamar Miller. Their offensive line is a tad suspect but can address in free agency and or the NFL draft.

My opinion on free agents the Texans should go after other than Tony Romo is cornerback Captain Munnerlyn to fill the void by A.J. Bouye.

But unfortunately, Munnerlyn has been commandeered by the Carolina Panthers, his former team so we need to find a CB that shares his traits.

Next: Team Wants Ryan Griffin Back; But At Right Price

He  would be a nice fit on a low end deal that wouldn’t cost a whole lot. The Texans need to go out and get depth at the right tackle position as well. Most tackles have already been signed as we speak.

It has been very quiet in Houston today, but as we know from yesterday, things can pick up in a heartbeat.

My opinion is that many more moves will be coming from the Texans as Free Agency is only in day two.

Fans should buckle up and stay tuned.
