Are you believing what you’re seeing Houston Texans’ fans?  Are you surprised?  Well, let elaborate what I’m talking about.  I’m referring to our dismal quarterback play as of late.  Brock Osweiler, the $72 million man that we’ve anointed to rescue us from the mediocre quarterbacks that we’ve had over the years has forsaken us.

Are you believing what you’re seeing Houston Texans‘ fans?  Are you surprised?  Well, let elaborate what I’m talking about.  I’m referring to our dismal quarterback play as of late.  Brock Osweiler, the $72 million man that we’ve anointed to rescue us from the mediocre quarterbacks that we’ve had over the years has forsaken us.

And according to a report from Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Osweiler and Texans’ head coach Bill O’Brien got involved in a heated argument over the play-calls this week during a review of what went wrong in Week 5.

La Canfora also notes that his exchange wasn’t in private and that many members of the Texans’ — staff and players — were within earshot of a fiery exchange of ideas.

Things have been quite murky as far as offense for the Texans since the start of the season and lot of that can attributed to Osweiler’s tentative play at the position.

More from House of Houston

With so much money — $37 million to be exact — tied into the Texans’ biggest off season signing, it’s completely understandable that it’s imperative that changes have to made in order to stop the negative trends of their offensive production.

I personally wrote about the THREE things that Osweiler has to do in order to immerse himself into this offense and still hold those truths near and dear.

But the fact the Texans have been only been able to conjure up 75 points — good for next to last in the NFL — falls heavily on the shoulders of Osweiler.

His ability to fold when the pressure on is alarming.

And his stats tell an important story.

As a matter of fact, according to Pro Football Focus, Osweiler has a 92.9 quarterback rating under no pressure, 58.5 when being blitzed and 23.1 under pressure so far this season.

Not to mention that his quarterback rating is at a 70.6, good for second-last in the NFL.

You see how being close to last place is becoming a trend?

It’s not sound considering the significant investment the Texans made in him.

I do believe these exchanges will continue but if this gets any worse, I think O’Brien needs to bench Osweiler to humble and let Tom Savage — who has been waiting for his shot and was hand-picked by O’Brien — have some time under center.

But we’ll have to see how this plays out, stay tuned, we may see fireworks in October rather than in July.

Osweiler has gone 109-for-188, passing for 1,113 yards with six touchdowns to seven interceptions through five games with 911 yards — 81.2 percent — coming off no-pressure plays.

Go Texans.
