Rockets Report: Team Going In On Markeiff Morris

To say that this Houston Rockets team as assembled this season is disappointing is an understatement.

Time and again, we see golden opportunities for this team to excel and to take advantage of but they continue to fall short of expectations.

This team is loaded with talent and for some reason, it hasn’t been able to gel consistently this season.

These last two losses against the Denver Nuggets and the Sacramento Kings, the run of the litter of the Western Conference, have been despicable to witness as life-long Rockets’ fan.

There’s something missing out this team and a spark is needed to jolt these guys back to respectability.

The Kevin McHale move had to be made, he had lost the locker room and once that happens there’s no chance in one surviving as a lame duck.

I like the energy and creativity instituted by J.B. Bickerstaff so far but something else is needed for this team.

They’re too damn good to be continuing to underachieve like they have been.

They were favorites to win the NBA Championship THIS YEAR for Pete’s Sake!

Now as we progress past more than a quarter of the season, we as fans just hope that this team makes the postseason.

That idea seems far-fetched now but there’s whole lot of basketball to play and the fact that there’s still time to turn things around give me and many fans like myself tons of hope moving forward.

But the Rockets are already noticing that a change needs to be made and that should be the next step.

Michael Scotto of SheridanHoops.com reports that the Rockets and Phoenix Suns are hammering out a possible deal for forward Markieff Morris.

I had written this past summer about the possibility of Morris being a Rocket as he has long expressed his desire for a trade to jettison him out of the Valley of the Sun.

He likes James Harden and wants to play alongside him but it remains to be seen that if this pairing could work.

The latest that Scotto notes is that the Rockets want to deal Terrence Jones and Corey Brewer for Morris.

I’m actually okay with that but Brewer’s contract has a kicker that doesn’t allow him to be traded until Jan. 15th so it remains to be seen if a different player will be included to make this deal work.

There’s also rumors that Dwight Howard could be traded to the Miami Heat for Hassan Whiteside straight up as reported by Chris Sheridan himself.

He’s not happy being here, playing second-fiddle to the Beard as he mentions which I find hard to believe but possible because we only see what the cameras allow.

We’ll have to keep an eye on that development.

All I have to say is whatever they do, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT TRADE Donatas Motiejunas, he’s an extremely special player that gives it his all every time that he’s on the court.

He’s getting back into his stride and I’d be devastated if they do trade him.

But I’d take Markieff Morris because it would beef up the front line plenty.

It’s trade talk time and I expect the Rockets to be fully-engaged — let’s how this plays out.

Morris, 26, is averaging 11.4 PPG and 5.2 RPG while shooting 38.6 percent from the field through 18 games with the Suns this season.

Go Rockets.
