Week 11 Houston Texans Vs. New York Jets: Game Information and Predictions

facebooktwitterreddit

The Houston Texans put together an impressive win over the Cincinnati Bengals last week.

Nobody in their right mind was expecting the Texans to win that game, including myself.

I just had hoped that we’d make it respectable but obviously, they exceeded my expectations.

As the game meandered toward the end, I kept thinking to myself that they actually could pull this one out, especially with as hard as the defense was playing.

They gave up a paltry six points, who knew?

But anyway, the Texans have a game to play today and they’ll be facing the 5-4 New York Jets.

The Jets the league’s 4th-best defense and 11th-ranked offense at the moment, so this team is certainly better than their record indicates.

The Texans cannot take them lightly, if they continue their intensity from Monday night’s game against the Bengals, they’ll have no problem in competing with the Jets who coached by defensive master mind Todd Bowles and guided by former Texans’ executive Mike Maccagnan.

This won’t be a shootout by any means but expect the Texans to keep this one close.

Here’s everything you need to know about today’s game:

Bold Predictions:

1.)  Jonathan Grimes has his best rushing game of the season.

Although the Jets lead the league in rush defense, yielding just 88.1 yards per game, I think that Grimes can break that barrier and have himself a nice game.  Because quite honestly, who else is there out there that can make an impact?  I honestly don’t see Alfred Blue as the answer but you never know when he’s due for a big game.  Today should be Grimes all the way.  By the way, the Texans did sign Akeem Hunt off the practice squad for insurance but expect Grimes and Blue to take the lead.

2.)  T.J. Yates will kill it against the Jets.

There was a reason the Texans called up Yates — who was sitting on the couch — to get back in the saddle at least an backup.  With Brian Hoyer knocked out of the game this past Monday, it will be up to him to lead this to team victory.  He had a nice, game-winning drive in his stead when he finished it up for Hoyer.  Is a 200-yard, three touchdown game too bold?  I’m probably right but you never know what T.J. is capable up and I really see that once this guy gets in a rhythm, he’s going to go plain loco.  Whether it’s today, that remains to be seen.

3.)  Ryan Fitzpatrick will rack up 50 rushing yards.

We’ve had Fitz before and we know what he’s capable of.  With the Texans having the 25th-best rush defense in terms of yardage (yielding 118 per game) this may not be as bold of a predication as you may think.  He’s been battling an injury with his left thumb for quite some time so really has just one good hand to work with.  He throws and carries the ball to his right so this injury is not completely debilitating to him.  We’ll have to see about this one.

Game Score Prediction: 24-17 in a Texans’ win!
