Houston Texans Tidbits:

Jadeveon Clowney:  Clowney returned to practice Thursday and Bill O’Brien mentioned yesterday that it was encouraging that he was able to do so for the second consecutive day yesterday.  He still has been limited as far as his practice participation but just seeing him out there is definitely a step in the right direction. This is his second week dealing with his ankle injury and his return back to field seems to be more closer to imminent.  Don’t expect it this week though, I’d rest him one more game and bring him back against the Tennessee Titans Nov. 1.  But if he feels good out there, I wouldn’t stop the man from doing his thing.  As usual, expect John Simon to step in at JACK linebacker if Clowney can’t give it a go.  Clowney is considered “day-to-day” at this point.

Brandon Brooks:  Brooks has been dealing with a toe injury since he sustained it against the Jaguars last week.  He had been out most of the week but returned to practice Friday.  In regard to his toe, Brooks said “it felt good” and that “I definitely plan on playing.”  Although he has been ruled as questionable, I would definitely believe that quote as Brooks is an iron man, where missing games is a quite rare occasion.  He has started every game this season thus far.  Expect Brooks out there Sunday and wreaking some havoc.

Kareem Jackson:  Jackson sustained a hamstring injury causing him to exit the game early against the Jaguars Sunday.  This past Wednesday, he had already been ruled out for Sunday so he may have a ways to go as far as his readiness. This will be huge opportunities for rookie corner Kevin Johnson as well as our mainstay CB in A.J. Bouye.  Jackson has been up-and-down this season but has 24 tackles (three assisted) as well as two passes defended through six games this season.

Cecil Shorts III:  Shorts hasn’t practiced all week as he is dealing with an issue with his hamstring suffered in last week’s contest against the Jaguars.  This is tough news considering that he’s already missed some time healing from a shoulder injury sustained against the Atlanta Falcons a couple of weeks back.  He was also ruled out for Sunday earlier this week.  Expect DeAndre Hopkins to have a larger role than ever before as a result of his absence which as from what we saw last week, he doesn’t seem to mind that.

And here’s the injury report for the Miami Dolphins:

T Branden Albert, Hamstring

CB Zack Bowman, Not Injury Related

DT A.J. Francis, Back

CB Brent Grimes, Knee

S Reshad Jones, Shoulder

CB Brice McCain, Knee

QB Matt Moore, Nose

DT Jordan Phillips, Ankle

C Mike Pouncey, Hip

WR Kenny Stills, Back

DE Cameron Wake, Hamstring

McCain has been ruled as doubtful for Sunday.  Albert, Bowman, Francis, Grimes, Jones, Moore, Phillips, Pouncey, Stills and Wake are probable and are good to go.

Miami Dolphins Tidbits:

Brice McCain:  McCain, a cast-off former cornerback with the Texans is now a starter for the Dolphins.  Wow.  But anyway, he sustained an injury to his knee against the Titans this past Sunday and hasn’t practiced much this week, getting treatment from the trainers.  Expect McCain to be out Sunday as they have Jamar Taylor and rookie Bobby McCain to fill-in for him.  I think either of those guys — likely Bobby — will eventually have his job anyway.

The Texans take on the Dolphins Sunday at Sun Life Stadium.

Kickoff is scheduled for noon CDT.

The game will be televised on CBS and broadcast on 610 SportsRadio AM/100.3 FM (KILT) & ESPN Deportes 1180 AM in Spanish.
