Texans: Boom! DeAndre Hopkins Wins Offensive POTW!

The Houston Texans were finally able to get a win last week!

Thank goodness.

I had started to begin scenarios as far as what would happen if the this team would’ve lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

I’m positive some heads would’ve rolled and I was thinking that Romeo Crennel would amongst the first to be victimized via firing squad because of how our defense is underachieving this year.

But no.

Although the defensive wasn’t perfect, they did enough to help this team achieve a win and stay on pace to be on the Indianapolis Colts heels in the division.

It sucks but the Jags are no longer the guaranteed win that they have been over the years.

They continue to get better and they’ve got a bright future with Blake Bortles under center.

I think ownership is totally serious in ensuring that the Jags have a competitive, watchable product out on the field and not just using the franchise ownership as a steady stream of cash flow.

But enough about the Jags, let’s talk about our own.

DeAndre Hopkins was the epitome of awesome last week — he was a stat machine, making clutch grabs and catches everywhere he went, all over the field.

As a result of his strong performance, Hopkins has been honored as the AFC Offensive Player of the Week!

This award is rightfully deserved as he caught 10 balls for 148 yards along with two touchdowns as the Texans eked out a 31-20 win.

This is just splendid news — I had feeling this guy would come into his own and with Andre Johnson‘s departure, he finally has the green light to be the player he was intended to be.

He had a couple seasons to be Johnson’s understudy and when he sought greener pastures with signing a deal with the Colts, Hopkins is now the headliner on the Texans’ offense.

This goes to show that it’s going to be some fun times watching this guy play football even if times aren’t so much fun with the team as a whole.

Let’s hope that changes soon because I’d love for it to be fun to watch the entire team play rather than just individuals.

After all, it’s a team sport right?

Yes!

Hopkins is the first player in NFL history to record at least nine catches and 145 yards receiving in three consecutive games

He has tied the franchise record with his fourth consecutive 100-yard game.

Wow, with all of those historical stats already popping out this early in his career, that means the best is yet to come!

Just wait until he actually gets into his prime!

Until then, we’ll have to just sit back, relax, grab some popcorn and enjoy the hell of show that he’s been putting on.

Go Texans!
