Texans: Two Receivers Could Be Out Thursday

I’m glad the bleeding has stopped for the Houston Texans.

At least for now.

That game was one of the worst massacres that I had ever seen and it just kept getting even more sour as time progressed.

I thought this team would look a lot better and show out in front a team that’s on the rise after a disappointing 2014 campaign.

But apparently a new general manager and coach has rejuvenated a franchise that was on life support at one point.

No, I’m not talking about the Texans but the Atlanta Falcons.

The addition of Scott Pioli and Dan Quinn was just what that franchise needed.

They’ve pretty much have brought back close to the same team — with a few additions — and they’re one of five teams that boasts an undefeated 4-0 record while perched right at the top of their respective division.

The Texans just got out-dueled, out-coached, out-everything in terms of how they performed this past Sunday.

Although Brian Hoyer was inserted into the game when we were down 42-0 and he led three touchdown drives, those were pity points as the Falcons had backed off on their coverage, becoming a bit more vanilla.

At least it became a tad bit more respectable — at least in the final score — and it wasn’t the largest margin of error in the franchise’s history.

Any way, enough about that we’ve got a game to play tomorrow night.

No need to pour salt into old wounds once again.

This Thursday, there could up to two of our wide receivers out against our next opponent, the Indianapolis Colts.

According to the Texans’ Deepi Sidhu, Bill O’Brien has ruled Cecil Shorts III out with a shoulder injury, sustaining on one of the last plays of the game after a fumble resulting in additional defensive 84-yard return for a touchdown by Falcons’ linebacker Nate Stupar.

Shorts seems disappointed about the whole injury but is trying to keep good spirits while he weathers the storm.

"“It’s football, you know what I mean,” Shorts said. “Of course you don’t want to get hurt in any part of the game, but the last play, but it is what it is. Just got to move on and get back as fast as I can.”"

Nate Washington could also be out as he has been ruled “day-to-day” after a hamstring injury causing him to be jettisoned from the game before the end of the first half Sunday.

There may be some moves that are made to fill those empty slots but O’Brien seems content on what he has now.

"“I’m sure we’ll reconvene later on here today, but right now, you got Hop (DeAndre Hopkins), you have (Keith) Mumphery, (Jaelen) Strong, and (Chandler) Worthy,” O’Brien said. “Those are the guys that you have right now. Hop’s been out there a lot obviously, but Mumphery really had some good catches yesterday and played hard. Strong’s getting better. He had a good week of practice last week. Worthy same thing. Young players that we think are getting better.”"

Let’s hope for the best in terms of these injuries which couldn’t come at a more inopportune time.

The Texans take on the Colts Thursday at NRG Stadium.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:25 p.m. CDT.

The game will be televised on CBS and broadcast on 610 SportsRadio AM/100.3 FM (KILT) & ESPN Deportes 1180 AM in Spanish.
