Texans: Will Ryan Mallett Be A Go This Sunday?
Here we go — Week 4 is upon us Houston Texans fans!
The Texans were able to make a solid rebound from their previous two losses for a chance to get back at .500 this week and start to make some respectable progress toward making something out of this season.
Sunday’s match up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wasn’t a perfect one but the team was doing things to demonstrate that they’re seriously committed to winning.

Now I know a lot of you will say “oh, it’s just the Bucs,” but with the NFL making a nearly exponential shift toward more parity, you’ve got to take each and every opponent quite seriously.
In my opinion, any team can win on any given Sunday.
That certainly showed this past week as the Bucs were able to hang with us throughout most of the game until we started to pull away.
The commencement of the running game and solid defense of the football was what brought this team out of the doldrums to which what I feel was the status prior to this week’s win.
But one must still take it one game at a time, one week at a time.
Anyway, some interesting news came out of the Texans’ practice bubble yesterday and it’s involving our starting quarterback.
According to the Houston Texans Deepi Sidhu, Ryan Mallett was limited in practice yesterday with a chest issue.
Now when I hear the phrase “chest issue” my mind wanders back to last season, shortly after his strong performance against the Cleveland Browns where he suffered a pectoral injury.
Mallett throws the ball quite hard and I know that can wreck havoc on those muscles that make it all happen.
But quite honestly, that’s his game and I don’t there’s anything that can be done as far as his mechanics — it’s what got him in the pros, that strong arm of his.
Bill O’Brien continues to wave this news off as if this is unimportant.
Here’s what he told the press:
"“He practiced today,” he said. “He’s doing fine.”"
But Mallett has been listed as “limited” for the past couple of days so it’s of obvious concern why that status hasn’t been changed to “full participation” yet.
When continued to be pressed on the question, here’s what he added:
"“He practiced today,’ he said. “I promise you, I really don’t know what all that means.”"
I’m quite skeptical as to why the Texans are being so coy with his status with the exception that it’s just strategy to keep the Atlanta Falcons, their opponent for this week, on their heels.
Could the Texans be hiding an even-bigger issue in terms of Mallett’s status?

I certainly hope not but we’ll have to check up on his status after today’s practice as well as how he performs this Sunday if he’s still “fine” as O’Brien has worded it.
He’s our best chance at keeping this season alive and I hope he’ll be good to go.
Mallett completed 24-of-39 passes for 228 yards with one touchdown and one interception for 75.6 rating in this past Sunday’s 19-9 win over the Bucs.
We shall see — go Texans.
