Houston Texans: Brandon Brooks Has A Left Ankle Sprain

The Houston Texans are finally winners.

It felt like a eternity but they finally went out and completed the task that they had set out to do — win the football game.

It was quite impressive — they just ran the football down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers throats until they couldn’t take it anymore.

This is quite telling because as soon as Arian Foster gets back, this will be the modus operandi for the Texans.

Alfred Blue had flashes of brilliance in the manner of his injured counterpart, especially when he ran it in for a touchdown.

He didn’t wait for his guys to create a hole for him, he found a peek of daylight himself, sliding through and finding his way into the end zone.

I had been previously worried about how he’d perform in Foster’s stead but things are looking okay at the moment.

It did kind of help that we were facing the Bucs’ D-Line, although very fierce but falls short of the elite category.

Ryan Mallett seemed to have a lot better rapport with the receivers as the dropped passes weren’t as prevalent as against the Carolina Panthers.

Despite all of that, the Texans could mild to moderate problem on the offensive line.

Why?

Right guard Brandon Brooks is hurt ya’ll.

As you may have seen, Brandon Brooks was injured his left ankle late in the 1st half after being shredded on a run-block attempt.

Luckily, he was able to get up off his own power and was able to limp over to the sidelines.

However, he went to the locker room and didn’t return for the rest of the game.

It had been said that the trainers had taped up Brooks’ ankle as he was eagerly wanting to get back on the field but it was quite obvious that someone vetoed his desire to do so.

According to the Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson, Brooks has a sprained left ankle.

There’s currently no word yet on his status for next Sunday but pay close attention to what he does in practice this week.

  • Just how long he could be out?

He may not miss at all and the medical staff will work to prep him for Sunday with plenty of tape and meds to absolve the pain.

But that’s unlikely as this is a long season.

I expect that he could be out maybe a week or two depending on the severity of the sprain and how quick that he can recover from it.

But who knows — miracles do happen and we do need one as he integral to the success of that offensive line and one of its most reliable members.

Brooks took part in 43 snaps before getting yesterday and continues to get positive grades from Pro Football Focus as he received a (+2.6) last week against the Panthers.

This is tough news to digest — let’s hope he returns sooner than later, or else there will be some serious reshuffling needed on that line.

    Go Texans.
