Terrence Jones: HOH’s Week 18 Silver Booster Award Winner

facebooktwitterreddit

It’s the last day of the month and it’s with pleasure to inform you that your Houston Rockets are undefeated (3-0) for the week!

Yes, I said it was possible that we’d finish the week undefeated and they found a way to do that!

With them facing the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets, I knew that there was a good chance of this happening.

This was because of the fact they have been at home at Toyota Center for more than a week now to which they’re almost complete with a five-game home stand.

The only match up that I was concerned about was against the Clippers because we hadn’t figured out a way to beat them this season.

Although we weren’t perfect in execution early-in, adjustments were made later in game to defend them better and we were able to come out the victor.

As I looked at the score in the 4th quarter, we were still hanging in there, giving me a reason to believe that a win was in the cards.

The first meeting Nov. 28 was pure domination and the last meeting that occurred Feb. 11 was a better effort but the Rockets ran out of gas toward the end.

But the Rockets did what they were supposed to this week, beat the teams they were supposed to defeat and stood toe-to-toe against their competition when their backs were against the wall.

Not a bad week to be a Rockets’ fan!

But there’s one guy that has kept the ship steady and manned the middle like a titan.

Because of this, excellence deserves to be recognized — today on that type of basis continuously, we will honor an individual player that made the most impact in helping the team, despite whether it resulted in a win or a loss.

We’ve dubbed it House of Houston Silver Booster Award

And this week’s Silver Booster Award goes to…

Terrence Jones!

This is the first time we’ve had to give this award on back-to-back weeks, but I think he’s completely deserving of this.

He has made every bit of a difference in his wins as I can officially assert that he’s got his grove back after being sidelined for a good chunk of the first half of the season.

Because D12 is nursing the edema in his right knee, Jones had to activated likely earlier than he wanted because we needed help and fast.

Like I said before, he’s come a long way from the raw, athletically gifted but fundamentally challenged player that we plucked in the first round of the 2012 draft.

He’s now a force to reckoned with and I can sleep a lot better a night knowing that TJones is there to help man the middle.

He will be an integral piece as the Rockets push to finish up the season strong and make a considerable run in the playoffs.

He will be instrumental in this team getting out of the first round which is a must for this team this season.

We’re too damn good to take an early exit this year and we play a hell of a lot better defense than last year.

When Jones is in the lineup, the Rockets are 12-3 and his efficiency is holding at a +6.6.

In fact, some of our most efficient lineups this season involve him.

So the verdict is in.

TJones was what we were missing and I really like how he and Donatas Motiejunas are playing together.  It’s working just fine.

By the way for week, Jones averaged a double-double.

Check out this stat line per game this week:  18.3 PPG, 11.7 RPG, 2.7 BPG, while shooting 23-for-38 from the field (60.5 percent) and 9-for-12 FT (75 percent).

More from Houston Rockets

Wow — and he even has improved his free throw shooting quite a bit.  His opportunities at the line were few in comparison to the rest of the team but he made the most of it when he was sent to the charity stripe.

Our vote for Jones was unanimous as he consistently was the key component of all of the Rockets’ wins this week.

Keep it up TJones and keep making RedNation proud!

Go Rockets!
