Houston Texans Fire Offensive Line Coach Paul Dunn
By Yoni Pollak
The Houston Texans have fired Offensive Line Coach Paul Dunn, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.
Paul Dunn, 54, came over from the Atlanta Falcons organization where he coached their offensive line for six seasons prior to joining the Texans. Dunn wasn’t too successful in his time with the Falcons and didn’t appear to help out the Texans offensive line either.

When the Texans hired Dunn, former Texans OL Charles Spencer was NOT a fan of the signing. (You could read his tweets on the matter, here.) Though RT Derek Newton did have a breakout year this season, it appeared as if LT Duane Brown and C Chris Myers took a step or two down. It’s hard to tell what kind of coaching (or lack thereof) can do to an offensive lineman, but the Texans pass protection wasn’t a strength this season.
It appears as if HC Bill O’Brien is holding everyone accountable for their mistakes. That should be a good sign for Texans fans as we get ready for what could be an interesting offseason.
O’Brien will be conducting the interviews to find his next OL coach.
