Whitney Mercilus: HOH’s Week 9 Golden Bull Award Recipient

The Houston Texans did battle with the Philadelphia Eagles this past Sunday and although the team remained in the game, there was a lot of bad that was seen.

There were a ton of injuries that we saw out on the field that were just cringing to watch.

The training staff for both teams were working extra hard to tend to their players.

Things got so dire that I’m currently wondering who is going to show up next week on the Texans’ next game on the road against the Cleveland Browns.

Oh yeah — I’ll be glad when Darryl Morris returns because Andre Hal has not been cutting it.

For the past few games, he continues to miss tackle after tackle, score after score and it’s starting to get frustrating that he actually continues to get the opportunity to play.

When Mark Sanchez stepped in from Nick Foles injury, the first pass he threw was for 52 yards to Jeremy Maclin and Hal was the guy who missed that tackle.

That hurt big time!

Sanchez eventually scored on the drive with a 11-yard pass to Jordan Matthews but that could’ve been averted if Hal would’ve just locked up on him.

Maclin’s talents also proved that Hal was no match for him.

Bar none — he needs to be benched ASAP.

On the other hand, there’s guy on our roster that has had a fire lit into him and has really been a bright spot for this roster for the past few games.

He finally demonstrated the value of a what first-round draft pick should be.

Because of this, excellence deserves to be recognized — we started at the beginning of the season and on that type of basis continuously, we will honor an individual player that made the most impact in helping the team, despite whether it resulted in a win or a loss.

We’ve dubbed it House of Houston Golden Bull Award

And this week’s Golden Bull Award goes to…

Whitney Mercilus!

After being virtually a ghost earlier this season and all of last, he has really poured it on the last few games.

This past Sunday, he made a statement with an exclamation point!

He abused Foles to the point where he hit him so hard, he broke his clavicle bone and the Eagles’ starter under center may be out for awhile.

It literally was a bone-crunching sack!

That’s unfortunate for Foles but wow!

More from Houston Texans

I’m glad he has shown up because I’m sure the Texans were deciding whether or not keep him when it’s time to get his due from his rookie contract.

The way he has been playing lately, it’s a no-brainer.

By the way, he led the team in tackles with nine along with four assists and two tackles.

I hope to see more of this on the regular because it will only help our defensive line excel.

And I may actually have to invest in a No. 59 deep steel blue jersey.

Take a bow Whitney and thanks for stepping up!

Go Texans!
