Coach K: "James Harden Has Been As Good A Leader As We Have Had"

Talking with the media a few days ago, USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski heaped lots of praise on James Harden, when asked about his maturity.

Terrific. James has been as good a leader as we’ve had for this team. He has a great personality. He is an upbeat guy, smart, and he’s obviously very, very talented. With this group, especially after Kevin left, he has asserted himself even more as an older guy. I know him, he knows me, because we have worked together. He’s really one of our key guys. There is no question about it.

James Harden, 24 (25 in a few days), is somehow one of the older players on the roster.

Harden has previously been criticized here and there for a lack of leadership with the Rockets. Some people don’t like the way he handles himself on-and-off the court, so the positive words from Coach K are a pleasant surprise.

The Rockets lost their locker room leader, Chandler Parsons, in the offseason so the Rockets could use a new vocal leader. Harden is the All-Star of the Rockets, along with Dwight Howard, and both of them are expected to take big leadership roles for this young Rockets team.

Harden has already been making waves this summer by saying he’s the best player in the game, and this is a confident Harden I could get used to this season.
