The Houston Texans faced the injury bug over the last month with several key players missing valuable time over training camp.
WR Andre Johnson and RB Arian Foster, the two leaders of the offense, have seen minimal work since injuring their hamstrings within a day of each other earlier in camp. Both are starting to ramp up their workload and may see some action in this week’s game against the Denver Broncos.
OG Brandon Brooks passed his physical and was activated to the roster just yesterday. Brooks is not in complete football shape quite yet, and will need plenty of snaps during practices and games just to be ready for week one. The Texans are likely to put Brooks at RG and have Ben Jones and Xavier Su’a-Filo battle it out for playing time at LG.
CB Johnathan Joseph and LB Brian Cushing practiced yesterday as well. Joseph had been out since training camp began, but should be good to go come week one. Cushing is slowly rehabbing from his leg injury last season, and isn’t sure yet if he’ll be ready to go in early September.
With the Texans big stars healing, they should be good to go for a pretty healthy start to the season. While other teams were hit with big injuries during the preseason, the Texans have been relatively lucky with the injury bug. Of course, that could change any second of any day.
For now, let’s just hope the Houston Texans could go injury free the rest of the way!
