Strikes, Swipes & Sweeps: Houston Astros MiLB Recap: Aug. 5

It’s all over!  Tuesday night’s breakneck action in the Pacific Coast, Texas, California and Midwest Leagues resulted in three of our four teams prevailing over their respective opponents.

Alex White had six strikeouts in six innings last night, all seasons highs for the RedHawks.  They defeated the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 7-3, obtaining their first sweep of the season at The Brick!  They have the night off before taking on the Iowa Cubs tomorrow to whom the RedHawks are trailing in the PCL American Northern Division by three games.

It was all Brandon Meredith as the Hooks edged the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 5-4.  Mitchell Lambson pitched another gem, closing the game out with allowing only one hit, not walking a batter and fanning three in three scoreless frames.  Conrad Gregor went 2-for-3 and chipped in two ribbies.

The JetHawks trailed for most of the game but overcame a four-run deficit in the 8th led by some deft play making by Chan Moon and Roberto Pena.  They had a opportunity to advance Jack Mayfield who singled to center but they were unable to do so, narrowly losing to the Modesto Nuts 5-4.

The River Bandits didn’t look back as they cruised to a 4-0 win over the Burlington Bees, each team combined for 27 strikeouts with no walks with this unique event happening for the first time in nearly four years.  Michael Feliz had an outstanding performance allowing only three hits, not walking a batter, striking out nine in eight scoreless frames.
