Discussing The Jarred Cosart Trade With Fish Stripes

The Houston Astros weren’t supposed to be trading some of their young MLB talent at this year’s deadline. When GM Jeff Luhnow took over as GM, I can’t imagine he expected to be trading Jarred Cosart in 2014.

Cosart was supposed to be one of the pitchers in the stacked rotation of the future.

Well, that all changed on July 31st when the Astros traded Jarred Cosart, along with Enrique Hernandez and Austin Wates to the Miami Marlins. In return, the Astros acquired OF Jake Marisnick, 3B, Colin Moran, P Francis Martes, and a compensatory pick in next year’s draft.

We have had a few days now to let the trade sink in, so I asked Scott Gelman from Fish Stripes (the Miami Marlins SB Nation blog) a few questions regarding the players the Astros brought back in return.

Check out (below) our conversation from Reply All. This conversation will be developing throughout the day and tomorrow so be sure to check back in a few times as we discuss the Jarred Cosart trade.
