Cleats, Clashes & Closers: Houston Astros MiLB Recap: Aug. 1

That’s a wrap!  Friday night’s frenetic action in the Pacific Coast, Texas, California and Midwest Leagues resulted in one of our four teams prevailing over their respective opponents.

Despite a strong performance by Matt Duffy to keep the RedHawks in their game late, it wasn’t quite enough as the Round Rock Express won on a walk-off RBI single hit by Josh Wilson in the 9th.  The RedHawks end the series in a tie and head back home to face the Colorado Springs Sky Sox.

The Hooks could not muster enough offense to defeat the Midland RockHounds.  Conrad Gregor went 2-for-3 and now leads all Astros prospects with 76 ribbies on the season.  They fell to the RockHounds 7-4 and have dropped 12 of their last 13 games.

The Lake Elsinore Storm were no match for the JetHawks as they coasted to an easy 6-2 win.  Strong performances from Tyler White, Matt Heidenreich and Kent Emanuel all contributed to the win.  The JetHawks have won six straight.

The River Bandits never recovered from a devastating six-run, 2nd inning to eventually be defeated by the Kane County Cougars.  The relief pitching by Chris Cotton and Edison Frias was extremely solid.  The River Bandits have lost three straight.
