Saves, Stats & Swipes: Houston Astros MiLB Recap: July 28

Finished to completion!   Monday night’s breakneck action in the Pacific Coast, Texas, California and Midwest Leagues resulted in three of our four teams prevailing over their respective opponents.

Despite a stellar performance by Michael Foltynewicz, he didn’t get the support needed to beat the Nashville Sounds.  Folty recorded 10 strikeouts — he becomes the third pitcher in RedHawks’ history to record 10+ strikeouts in three games in one season.  They fell to the Sounds 3-1.

The Hooks won their close game with a highly-pronounced walk-off home run by Delino DeShields beating the San Antonio Missions 5-4 in 10 innings.  DeShields is starting to heat back up once again.

The JetHawks were able to mount an early lead and never looked back as they downed the High Desert Mavericks 7-2.  David (Jack) Mayfield had an excellent game with a stat line longer than your local DMV office!

The River Bandits stymied the Bowling Green Hot Rods 4-3 in another nail biter which included a collaborative effort from many.  In his second at-bat with Quad Cities, A.J. Reed hit his first home run with the club in the 4th inning which was pivotal in them taking the lead.  The River Bandits have been playing well as of late, winning eight of their nine games.
