Houston Texans Sign Nose Tackle David Hunter

The Houston Texans announced that they have signed NT David Hunter.

Hunter, 24, was previously with the Texans last offseason but was waived towards the end of the preseason.

At 6″2 and 301 pounds, Hunter will get reps at nose tackle with Louis Nix on the PUP list. He will share time with Jerrell Powe and Austin Brown in the meantime as the Texans wait for Nix to get healthy.

Hunter is a former UH Cougar as well, and finished with 163 tackles and 7 sacks over his four seasons at UH. He joins Case Keenum as the only UH Cougars on the Texans roster.

The Texans defense has been nicked up this offseason, but they should be at almost full strength once the season begins.

They open up Training Camp on the 25th with their first practice being on the 26th.
