Houston Texans Place Brian Cushing And Two Others On PUP List

The Houston Texans have placed LB Brian Cushing, LB Trevardo Williams, and NT Louis Nix III on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list.

Cushing is coming off a leg injury that forced him to miss a bit more than half of last season. This is Cushing’s second injury in two years, and he’s working hard to be ready for this upcoming regular season. The Texans will ease him into the grind, and he’s expected to come off the list sometime this offseason.

Williams, a 4th round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, missed the entire 2013 season with a foot injury. He practiced for a few days during mini-camp, and his injury has yet to be disclosed at this time. Williams needs to get as many reps as possible during the offseason to earn snaps come week one.

Nix, this year’s 3rd round pick, is expected to be the team’s week one starting nose tackle. He missed OTA’s with a knee injury, but should be able to come off the list within the next few weeks or so. The Texans need Nix to be fully healthy, as he is clearly the best NT on the roster.

Rookies Jadeveon Clowney and Jeoffrey Pagan both fought injuries during minicamp, but were absent from the list. Both have been dealing with injuries, but are expected to be ready at some point during Training Camp.

All three players listed can come off of the PUP list at anytime during the rest of Training Camp and the preseason.

Training Camp officially opens up on July 25th.
