Houston Rockets: A Triangle Of Possibilities

Just covering this years 2014 NBA free agency is already exhausting, and with the market on a freeze due to LeBron James‘ indecision, things are getting ridiculous.

For now we will leave the free agent market alone and get to the news you’ve all wanted to talk about. What will the Houston Rockets do with small forward Chandler Parsons? The Dallas Mavericks offered Parsons a lucrative 3 year, $45 million dollar deal worth $15 million a year for the third year small forward out of Florida, and have forced the Rockets hand.

With James not yet making any decision on where he will play for the next few years, one of the other targets the Rockets have their eyes on has to wait. Rockets are prepared to offer Miami Heat power forward Chris Bosh a 4 year, $88 million dollar contract that will likely be his last big NBA contract. However, Bosh has said he is waiting to see if LeBron will make his decision before he himself makes his decision. If James chooses Miami, Bosh will stay if James elects to play elsewhere Bosh will likely come to Houston according to multiple reports across the NBA.

Back to the important stuff though, with Parsons signing the offer sheet and the Rockets receiving the offer sheet yesterday, Houston has until Sunday night at 11:00 PM CT. Many believe that if Bosh makes his decision and makes it before that three day window, not only will they sign Bosh but will also match the offer given to Parsons allowing Houston to go over the cap. A lot of information I know, but the kicker is all of these things seemingly have to happen in a three day time span if not Houston could possibly miss out on not only Bosh, but Parsons as well.

Luol Deng‘s name has been mentioned as a potential target in the Rockets sights if they do not feel Parsons contract warrants matching. The small forward who last played for the Cleveland Cavaliers is looking to go to a team where he can not only win, but be a focal point in the team. Most believe Deng will only come into play if Rockets miss out on Bosh and opt to not match the offer that Dallas gave Parsons allowing Parsons to walk to a rival team in the Mavericks.

Obviously a lot can happen between now and that three day window, but one thing is for sure.; The Houston Rockets want Chris Bosh to make a decision and they want him to make it quick.
