Breaking: Dallas Mavericks Agree To 3-Year Offer Sheet With Chandler Parsons

The Dallas Mavericks and Chandler Parsons have agreed on a three year offer sheet worth over $45 million, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

This gives the Rockets a 72-hour timetable to make moves before they decide on Parsons’ future.

Adrian Wojnarowski (Yahoo! Sports) says the deal is for $46 million over three years and that Rockets and Parsons tried to work out a deal themselves, but failed to do so before signing with the Mavericks.

All expectations are that the Rockets will match the offer, though things can get complicated quickly. The Rockets are waiting on decisions from LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Bosh. If one of them commits to Houston and signs within the 72 hours, the Rockets can then sign Parsons and go over the cap to do so.

If the free agents continue to take their time, the Rockets are going to have to decide between Parsons and a free agent. The Rockets’ cap space isn’t clogged up with Parsons’ sheet since his cap hold is the QO until the Rockets decide to match. The Mavericks, however, have their cap space tied up with Parsons’ offer sheet until it is declined or matched.

We’ll know if Parsons is a Rocket or not by sometime on Sunday.
