Bats, Bombs & Breaks: Houston Astros MiLB Recap: July 1

Well how about that! Tuesday night’s intense action in the Pacific Coast, Texas, California and Midwest Leagues resulted in one of our four teams prevailing over their respective opponents.

The Corpus Christi Hooks had the night off and will start their three-game series versus the Springfield Cardinals tonight.

The Oklahoma City RedHawks trailed most of their game against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox but did pull within one run in the 8th Inning.  It wasn’t enough.  Carlos Perez went 4-for-5 and collected a two-out, RBI single.

For the Lancaster JetHawks, they battled throughout the game until the 8th Inning where a deep run by the Stockton Ports made it too tough to overcome.  Conrad Gregor increased his consecutive hitting streak to 18 games and that was off a double in the 3rd Inning.

It’s also apparent the club is reeling from the injury of Carlos Correa who is out for the season.  The JetHawks have gone 2-10 since.

The River Bandits held on to beat the Belmont Snappers 3-1.  The pitching duo of Michael Feliz and Frederick Tiburcio were awesome — they both combined for 10 strikeouts and Tiburcio retired all six batters he faced.
