Houston Rockets Report: Five Or Six Teams Willing To Trade For Jeremy Lin And/Or Omer Asik

According to Ramona Shelburne (ESPN), the Houston Rockets have five or six teams willing to trade for Jeremy Lin and/or Omer Asik.

Shelburne’s report piggybacks Sam Amick’s report from a few days ago saying the Rockets do have moves lined up to ship away Lin and/or Asik if necessary.

Both Lin and Asik are due $15 million each on their final year of their contracts, but they will count for just under $8.4 million each on a team’s cap.

The Rockets would need to trade both players in order to offer another free agent something close to a max contract. The Rockets will continue to pursue Carmelo Anthony, who officially opted out of his contract on Monday and is officially a free agent. They will also wait on LeBron James and Chris Bosh who have until June 30th to decide on their futures.

Lin, 26-years old in August, averaged 12.5 points and 4.1 assists per game in 71 games last season.

Asik, 28-years old in July, averaged 5.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game in 48 games last season.
