Though it was previously thought that the Houston Texans released QB T.J. Yates, ProFootballTalk reports the Texans have traded Yates to the Atlanta Falcons.
Texans trade QB T.J. Yates to Falcons for LB Akeem Dent, per league source.

Yates, 27, finishes his Texans career with 1,100 passing yards and a 3/6 – TD/INT ratio.
The Texans acquired former third-round pick, LB Akeem Dent, in return for Yates.
Dent, 26, has some ankle issues, but has been deemed pretty healthy. He started for the Falcons in 2013, but lost his job to an undrafted rookie in the middle of the season. He will likely contribute on special teams if he makes the team out of the preseason.
The Texans never officially released Yates, though it was reported on Twitter he was going to be released. Seeing the Texans were going to release Yates must have upped his value, and the Falcons preferred to deal Dent then risk losing Yates to another team. Patrick D. Starr (State Of The Texans) said the Texans had an offer for Yates during the draft, but declined the offer. Seeing that he was released was a bit surprising yesterday, though now we see that he wasn’t officially released rather traded to Atlanta.
