Jose Altuve And The Houston Astros Injury Report

The Houston Astros had the injury bug bite them during this last week. Let’s look at the injury report for the team these last five games.

Jun 11.

Status: Day to Day

Jose Altuve: Jose Altuve tweaked his left oblique swinging the bat Tuesday. He was not listed in the Astros lineup Wednesday. MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart with the report.

Jun 12.

Status: Day to Day

Jose Altuve: Jose Altuve left Thursday’s game in the seventh inning after a pitch hit his right hand. The reports on the X-Rays came back negative, and reports according to MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart list Altuve has day to day.

Jun 13.  

Status: Day to Day

Jose Altuve: Jose Altuve will miss the series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays according to the team’s official Twitter account. Altuve (hand) said he will back in the lineup in a couple games, according to the Houston Chronicle’s Jose de Jesus Ortiz.

Jun 14.

Status: Day to Day

Jose Altuve: Jose Altuve was not in the lineup in Saturday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Altuve (hand) said that he lobbied to play in Saturday’s game, but to no avail. Houston Chronicle’s Jose de Jesus Ortiz reported that Altuve said, “Yes, I asked. They said no. One more day.”

Josh Fields: Josh Fields has a muscle strain in his right forearm, according to Houston Chronicle’s Jose de Jesus Ortiz.

Jun 15.

Status: 15-Day DL

Josh Fields: Josh Fields (forearm)  was placed on the 15-day disabled list, according to MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart.

Status: Day to Day

Jose Altuve: Jose Altuve was not in the lineup for Sunday’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays. Manger Bo Porter believes Altuve (hand) will be back in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Washington Nationals. Reported by MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart.

Jose Altuve has been a catalyst in the Houston Astros’ lineup, and we will look forward to his return as the Astros begin their six game road trip in Washington D.C. against the Nationals.

Jesse Crain, Anthony Bass, and now Josh Fields, three relievers the Astros were depending on for contributions out of the bullpen this season, are all on the disabled list.

The Astros haven’t been terribly stricken by the injury big this season, but they’re starting to pile on a bit right now.
