Houston Astros Trade Adron Chambers To Toronto Blue Jays

The Houston Astros have traded Adron Chambers to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for two minor leagues. Brian McTaggart (MLB.com) was the first to report the deal.

Chambers, 27, was claimed by the Astros this past offseason. He didn’t make the team out of Spring Training and has been with the AAA RedHawks this whole season. He slashed .281/.356/.416 with two home runs and 15 RBI in 102 at-bats this season.

With Preston Tucker being called up from CC, the Astros needed to clear a spot for him at the AAA level. Chambers heads to the Blue Jays in exchange for two young prospects.

Solarte, 19, and Dupont, 20, will both head to the Astros complex in Kissimmee according to Brian McTaggart.

Solarte had a 2.98 ERA in 24.1 innings in the Gulf Coast League last season. Dupont slashed .262/.338/.311 in 68 plate appearances in the Gulf Coast League last season. Click here for more on the prospects from The Crawfish Boxes.

Neither prospect is considered a top-20 guy quite yet, but they have interesting numbers/tools. Though not likely, it’s possible one of these prospects could become a solid player one day.

Chambers was never going to see time in a crowded Astros outfield and you never know if one of these prospects can become an major leaguer one day. Another solid trade by GM Jeff Luhnow.
