In a Bleacher Report video, Ric Bucher says Kevin Love would prefer the Golden State Warriors over the Houston Rockets.
Bucher says, “Seeing himself play pick and roll with Steph Curry, and having an Andrew Bogut next to him defensively, and a Klay Thompson as another option to score from the perimeter, is much more attractive right now than looking at playing pick and roll with James Harden and have Dwight Howard there. No offense to the Houston Rockets, but this is a guy that loves California, loves the west coast, and particularly loves the way the Warriors are built.”
I believe it. Love has been known to be a west coast guy, which is why many believe he may prefer to play with the Los Angeles Lakers, so Golden State would also make sense as well.
If Kevin Love were a potential free agent looking at a sign-and-trade deal (like Carmelo Anthony), Golden State may be the better option for him. Being able to play alongside Curry and Thompson, and having Bogut to cover up his deficiencies on defense would probably be the better choice.
However, this is not the case. He doesn’t get to choose where he is going. Minnesota needs to make the best deal for themselves, and a deal around David Lee and Andre Iguodala with nothing else in return may not cut it. Heck, Houston’s potential deal of Jeremy Lin, Omer Asik, Terrence Jones, and picks may not cut it either.
Love would fit well in Golden State and would love it there. However, I do believe he fits well in Houston and would enjoy his time as a championship contender for the next 3-5 years with the Rockets as well.
If it was a choice for Love, I agree with Bucher. He would probably choose Golden State. However, it will ultimately come down to what package the Timberwolves prefer, not where Kevin Love prefers.
