The Houston Rockets believe they have a good shot at acquiring Kevin Love. Sam Smith (Bulls.com) says the Rockets think they can make a deal involving Chandler Parsons and Omer Asik to get the All-Start power forward.
Houston, like with rumors of a trade involving every top player (and they have gotten a few), is said to be involved. They only have a low first rounder. But they supposedly believe they can make a deal involving Omer Asik and Chandler Parsons to get Minnesota what it wants. Of course, they always say things like that.
Sam Smith isn’t Adrian Wojnarowski but he is respected around the NBA. The rumor is coming from Houston’s end and they have always had confidence they can get an All-Star. The Rockets have whiffed on a few in the past but have recently been successful with the arrivals of James Harden and Dwight Howard.According to the NBA Trade Machine (take it for what it’s worth), the Rockets would be able to make a trade for Love, without dealing Jeremy Lin. Parsons, Asik, and another (small) third contract would have to be included in a deal. The Rockets would love to unload Lin, especially if they are bringing in another huge contract.
Whether or not the Timberwolves would be interested in Lin remains to be seen. Ricky Rubio is still under contract with the Timberwolves so the Rockets may need a third team to take Lin’s contract.
Tonight’s draft lottery should have a big effect on the Kevin Love sweepstakes. Some believe the Celtics or Lakers could trump the Rockets trade offer if they are willing to unload their first round pick, but they may be hesitant if they land in the top three. There is a good chance we hear more rumors floating around tomorrow once the NBA Draft order is set.
