Houston Astros Trade Raul Valdes To The Toronto Blue Jays

The Houston Astros have traded Raul Valdes to the Toronto Blue Jays. The Astros will receive a PTBNL or cash at a later date.

Valdes, 36, signed with the Astros in the offseason and was given an opportunity in the Astros bullpen, only to blow it. After Kevin Chapman couldn’t get the job done as the team’s lefty, the Astros chose Valdes to fix their LOOGY problems. It didn’t work out for either party as Valdes finished with a 12.27 ERA in just 3.2 innings.

Valdes had a 3.48 ERA with the Oklahoma City RedHawks before being sent to Toronto. The PTBNL will be of little to no value if it even ends up being a player. It is likely to simply be a Valdes for cash deal.

The Astros got something, even if it’s just five bucks, for Valdes. Hooray!
