McClain: Houston Texans Won't Be Trading For Ryan Mallett

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle says the Texans won’t be trading for Ryan Mallett.

Though the Texans and some reporters have said there’s not truth to the Mallett rumors, Ian Rapoport (NFL Network) has said there’s still interest between the two teams to make a trade.

Just because McClain reports there won’t be a trade, it doesn’t mean there won’t be a trade. If you remember correctly, McClain was adamant the Texans would be drafting a quarterback with the first overall pick. How adamant? Enough to say that he would eat the front page of the Houston Chronicle if he was wrong.

As well all know, McClain was wrong and he came through on his promise. (Click here for the video).

I’m not saying McClain will be wrong in this case, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the Texans will definitely not trade for him. A trade between both parties makes too much sense not to happen, and the connections are there.
